Director's Bio
My name is Rachel Randolph, and I am the founder and director of Charlotte Impact Volleyball Academy, also known as CHIVA! I am super excited to kick off our first year. I love training athletes and the lifelong impact that the sport has to shape and challenge us. I just finished my tenth year of teaching and am excited to transition into the next step in my career path. More on that to come!
There are very few things I love more than being in the gym, two of them in the picture above - my husband Jonathan and the great outdoors! I love backpacking, hiking, and rock climbing. I am recovering from a recent ACL tear/ surgery which has been an interesting, humbling, and insightful journey; it has only made me more passionate about working with athletes and caring for them as individuals.
My love of volleyball started at a young age supporting my sister as she competed in the sport. Watching her compete in college gave me the confidence to pursue my dream as well. I was a little gym rat who finally outgrew my sister and ended up playing at her alma mater. I was honored to be a part of the Middle Tennessee State University NCAA Division 1 team that knocked Hawaii out of the tournament for the first time in 10 years. We ended our season in the Sweet 16. It was an incredible ride.
As a student athlete, I was exposed to the top of the game. I loved the competition, but I also knew how much of my life I had given to the sport already. I stepped away after my Freshman season and learned so much from that season and from that decision - about life, balance, priorities, etc. Those are life lessons I am still learning and ones I would love to share with athletes at CHIVA.
As a coach I am very technical and enthusiastic, and I will be one of your child's number one supporters, even if they outgrow the sport. I hope to cultivate an energy and passion for volleyball and life as well as a confidence to overcome challenges that is transferable to anything these young athletes pursue.
